STUDIO POLICY
My Responsibilities:
Photo/Video Release:
- I will teach students the language of music and storytelling in a positive and enthusiastic environment. It is my goal to empower each student to influence their music education with input based on their interests and long-term goals. I will tailor the curriculum to match each student’s specific learning needs.
- Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared and with their materials and music. To make good progress, daily quality practice is necessary. Please ask questions about home assignments so that the student and parents can completely understand the assignments and goals.
- Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child, please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.
- Please communicate via email- [email protected]
- Please allow a 24 hour window of communication during the week.
- Communication outside of the hours of operation may have a longer response time, and messages sent over the weekend will not receive a response until the studio opens on Monday
- If you have an issue the day of your lesson, please text Rebecca at 937-219-8618 -Please use texting for same day cancellations/urgent issues only, thank you.
- To assure that you get all of your lesson time, please be punctual. You reserve your weekly time slot, not the number of minutes.
- In the case that a student is more than 10 minutes late and I have not heard from them, they will be considered a no show.
- Please note that a student’s spot will not be guaranteed or reserved for the fall if they are not enrolled in lessons during the summer. Fall scheduling priority is also given to students enrolled in summer lessons.
- To participate in recitals, students must be enrolled leading up to and including the month that the recital takes place.
- Lessons canceled with under 24 hours notice will not be provided a make up lesson. Lessons canceled with 24 hours notice will be credited a make up lesson for that month.
- These make-up lessons can be done in the same week or following weeks, but must be used within 30 days of the cancelled class. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule this makeup within the 30 day time period.
- Make up lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s flat rate tuition.
- If no mutually acceptable time can be found for the makeup class, there will be an opportunity for a virtual lesson or with feedback lessons by sharing video performances and correspondence virtually.
- TEACHER CANCELLATIONS: Lessons canceled last minute by me will be given as much notice as possible. There are two weeks allotted for emergency cancellations (see "EMERGENCY WEEKS" below). Any teacher cancellations beyond these two weeks will be made up within a 30 day period.
- If you do not cancel before the 24-hour cut off, you agree to forfeit that lesson. Short and last minute cancellations mean another student cannot take that time.
- ILLNESS/INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the case of illness or inclement weather, lessons may be held virtually. When virtual lessons are offered, an in person makeup will not be offered. If the student opts out of the virtual lesson, that lesson and tuition will be forfeited. .
- Flat monthly tuition rates are based on the number of guaranteed lessons in the calendar year. There will be a minimum of 44 lessons offered throughout the year, and the weeks where lessons are not held (due to holidays or personal performance opportunities) will be communicated in advance closer to each break.
- EMERGENCY WEEKS: Two additional lessons will be built into the calendar, for a total of 46 lessons during the year. In the case of teacher illness, etc. , these two additional lessons can be canceled short notice. These weeks are complimentary in the case that no emergency cancellations occur.
- TO WITHDRAW: In order to cancel tuition, written notification must be received via email 2 weeks in advance. In the event that this deadline is not met, tuition will still be due and any automatic payments will still run on the first of the month.
- All payments are non-refundable. After the first payment, invoices will be sent will be sent and billed automatically on the 1st of each month from the card on file. All automatic payments will be run through My Music Staff & Stripe.
- In the event that a payment is returned or declined, a window will be provided to adjust the payment method and resubmit payment. Any payments not received by the 5th of the month will receive a $20 late fee. Recurring late payments may result in termination of the student’s enrollment.
- Each student is responsible for purchasing the required music and materials for lessons. Materials will be assigned by me and the student will be expected to have the materials no later than two weeks after the materials have been assigned. Advanced notice will be provided whenever possible.
- The studio policy is subject to change at any time. Changes to the policy will be communicated by email, at least one month before they go into effect. An updated copy of the policy will always be available here on my website.
Photo/Video Release:
- From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. The students will only be identified by first name.
